First, we should point out why we use the word cleanse rather than detox. The word detox implies that something is toxic or poisoned. A cleanse on the other hand is purification. A purging. Daily, our cells metabolize nutrients and create waste material. In addition, waste material can collect from environmental sources such as exposure to heavy metals, chemical-laden foods, and pollutants found in our drinking water and the air we breathe.
